GLOSSARY
planning-oriented
appears in 1 paper titles
Definition
Describes an architecture in which upstream modules — detection, tracking, mapping, motion forecasting — are designed and optimised for what the planner needs rather than for their own standalone metrics. UniAD made the case for it in autonomous driving. The premise is that better detection numbers do not automatically produce better driving. Note that it keeps the modular structure, and its inspectable intermediate outputs, while unifying the objective they train toward.
