GLOSSARY

modeling

appears in 13 paper titles

Definition

The act of formulating a problem as a learnable distribution or function — language modeling means predicting the next token, sequence modeling means capturing dependencies over time, reward modeling means learning a scoring function from preferences. The word points at the problem formulation, not the resulting artifact. When a title says "X modeling," read it as "we set X up as a prediction problem."
