GLOSSARY
autonomous
appears in 4 paper titles
Definition
Operating without step-by-step human control — deciding what to do next on its own. It covers self-driving vehicles and, increasingly, software agents given only a goal and left to plan, act, and correct. Autonomy is a spectrum rather than a binary, and most deployed systems are semi-autonomous, pausing for human approval at defined checkpoints; treat the word in a title as a direction of travel, not a guarantee.
