In words rather than numbers. Verbal feedback and verbal reinforcement replace a scalar reward or a gradient with a written explanation of what went wrong, fed back into the next attempt. The key structural point is that nothing is learned in the parameter sense — the model is unchanged and the improvement lives entirely in the context — which makes it cheap, immediate, and forgotten as soon as the context is dropped.
