Definition
Uniform Manifold Approximation and Projection, from McInnes, Healy and Melville: a nonlinear dimensionality reduction method that builds a neighbor graph in high dimensions and lays it out in two or three. It is the default tool for eyeballing embedding spaces, generally faster than t-SNE and somewhat better at retaining global structure. Read the plots with care — cluster sizes and the gaps between clusters are layout artifacts, not measurements.
