Definition

A paper written to teach rather than to propose. When the word appears in a title, expect a structured walk through the assumptions, derivations and practical pitfalls of an existing method, usually with worked notation. It differs from a research paper, which reports new results, and from a survey, which aims at coverage of a literature rather than at building understanding step by step.
