Definition

A modifier announcing an architecture split into three cooperating subsystems. It usually extends the borrowed cognitive-science framing of fast intuitive System 1 versus slow deliberate System 2 by adding a third component — memory, a controller, or a verifier, depending on the author. The phrase tells you the shape of the design, not which three parts are meant.
