theoretic

Definition
A combining form meaning "framed in terms of a specific theory": information-theoretic, game-theoretic, decision-theoretic. Saying an analysis is information-theoretic means it is conducted with entropy, mutual information, and coding-length arguments rather than empirical curves. Compare theoretical, which merely contrasts with experimental; theoretic names which theory supplies the machinery, and never stands alone.
