Definition

The set of all values something can take, framed geometrically. The word almost always arrives as the second half of a compound: action space and observation space in reinforcement learning, latent space in generative models, embedding space in retrieval. Two properties of a space determine which methods apply — its dimensionality, and whether it is continuous or discrete, which is why papers state both up front.
