Definition

A raster capture of what a display is showing. It is the lowest-common-denominator input for GUI agents and document models: no DOM, no accessibility tree, no API — just pixels, from which the model must recover buttons, fields, and tables. Screenshots differ from natural photographs in ways that matter, being text-dense and unforgiving about resolution, since a few pixels can separate one glyph from another.
