Definition

Claims that the argument or the evaluation is tight — assumptions stated, comparisons controlled, results tested rather than eyeballed. In empirical papers it usually points to a specific protocol: decontaminated test sets, matched compute budgets, multiple seeds with error bars. The word guarantees nothing on its own, so the thing to look for is which loosely-run practice the authors actually tightened.
