Definition

In task terms, the input side of question answering: the string the system must respond to, usually paired with a context passage or a corpus to search over. How a question is phrased — its ambiguity, its presuppositions, whether it is answerable at all — is itself a research topic. Do not confuse this data-item sense with a paper's own research question.
