GLOSSARY
pre-trained
appears in 3 paper titles
Definition
Describes a model that has already been through large-scale general training and now carries reusable representations. The standard workflow starts here: take pre-trained weights, adapt them with fine-tuning or prompting, and never pay for training from scratch. The hyphenated adjective describes the artefact; pretraining, without the hyphen, names the process that produced it.
