GLOSSARY

perceived

Definition

What a person actually experienced, as distinct from what was physically presented. The distinction is the point: perception research exists because the two come apart, so studies deliberately contrast stimulus properties with perceived ones. In evaluation the word marks a human judgement rather than an instrument reading — perceived quality means rated by people, not computed by a metric.
