paired

Definition
Marks that items are handled two at a time as a linked unit. Two common uses: an environment paired with the solution that clears it, as in open-ended coevolution, and two candidate outputs for the same input carrying a preference label, as in reward modeling. The contrast is with unpaired data, where no correspondence exists — a distinction that decides which training objectives are even available to you.
