GLOSSARY

open-world

appears in 1 paper titles

Definition

A setting in which the label set or situation space is not fixed in advance: a deployed system will meet objects, categories, or tasks it never saw in training and has to recognise them as unknown rather than force them into a known class. This is the assumption behind open-world recognition and open-ended agents, and it is what closed-set evaluation quietly assumes away. Unrelated to the video-game sense of the phrase.
