GLOSSARY

multi-hop

Definition

Describes a question that cannot be answered from a single passage: the system must chain two or more facts, using what it found in the first step to search for the second. Multi-hop QA benchmarks exist because single-hop retrieval can often be solved by surface matching, while chaining forces genuine composition. The difficulty sits in the intermediate bridge fact, not in document length.
