Definition

A metaphor borrowed from the infinite monkey theorem, used for brute-force sampling: draw many independent attempts and hope one lands. It entered the literature through work showing that pass rate climbs steadily with the number of samples, which makes repeated sampling a genuine axis of inference-time scaling — provided you have a verifier to pick the winner out of the pile.
