As a title word it signals a sufficiency claim rather than a state-of-the-art one: this much is enough, and the additional machinery in prior work was not carrying its weight. Such papers earn their place two ways — they are easy to reproduce, and by removing parts one at a time they identify which ingredient the result depended on.
