Definition
Named for the Greek goddess of wisdom and cunning, and reused often as a system name. In computing it is best known as a long-standing graph partitioning library, used to split graphs and meshes evenly for parallel computation and scheduling. In machine learning papers it also turns up as the proper name of a newly proposed system, so check the context before assuming which one is meant.
