Definition

Magnetoencephalography: a non-invasive recording of the faint magnetic fields produced by neuronal currents, picked up by sensors placed outside the head. Its selling point is millisecond time resolution, which makes it the tool of choice for tracking how a stimulus is transformed over time. Compared with fMRI, which follows blood flow, MEG trades spatial precision for temporal precision.
