Definition

Marks a setting where one input is an entire document — thousands to tens of thousands of tokens — rather than a paragraph. Chunking such inputs breaks cross-document coreference and multi-step reasoning, so the label usually implies either a long-context architecture or a retrieval step to compensate. Where long-context describes a model capability, long-document describes the task the capability is needed for.
