GLOSSARY
local
appears in 3 paper titles
Definition
Restricted in scope, in one of three senses. In architectures it means attending or convolving over a nearby window rather than everything; in optimisation it marks a local minimum as opposed to the global one; and in deployment it increasingly means running on your own hardware instead of calling a hosted API. That last sense is why "local model" now signals privacy and cost control rather than anything about the algorithm.
