Definition

Two distinct uses hang on one word. As a comparison, X-level means on par with X — human-level performance, expert-level accuracy — a claim about attainment. As a granularity marker, token-level, sentence-level or instance-level specifies the unit at which something is computed or scored. What precedes the hyphen tells you which reading applies; conflating them makes evaluation claims sound stronger than they are.
