learners

Definition
The model doing the learning — a general term, as in the weak learners combined by boosting. It also carries a deliberately anthropomorphic use, as in the framing that language models are few-shot learners, where the adaptation involves no weight update at all: the model adjusts to a new task purely from examples in its context. It frequently appears opposite a teacher, whether a larger model, a human annotator, or the data itself.
