GLOSSARY
learn
appears in 1 paper titles
Definition
To acquire parameters or behaviour from data rather than have them specified by hand. The idiom "learning to X" — learning to rank, learning to optimise — is one of the field's most common title patterns, and it always makes the same claim: a step previously written as rules is now fitted from examples. What is learned, whether weights, a policy, or a representation, is carried by the object.
