language

Definition

In this field "language" almost always means natural language — the text humans write and speak — as opposed to programming languages. It appears mostly inside compounds: language model, language understanding, vision-language. When a paper calls a system language-only, it means the model consumes and produces text and has no image, audio, or action channel.
