knowledge-intensive

Definition
Tasks whose difficulty lies in needing specific facts rather than in reasoning steps — open-domain question answering, fact checking, entity-heavy generation. They are the standard motivation for retrieval, since the required knowledge is too large to memorize reliably and goes stale between training runs. Contrast with reasoning benchmarks, where the information is given and the challenge is what to do with it.
