GLOSSARY

joint

Definition

Handling several things together rather than separately. In probability, a joint distribution describes variables simultaneously, capturing dependence that a product of marginals would miss. In training, joint means components or tasks are optimised at once instead of in stages. The implied contrast is always a pipeline — solve A, freeze it, then solve B — which is simpler but can lock in A's mistakes.
