Definition
A large labelled image dataset organised along WordNet categories, best known through ILSVRC, its 1000-class classification challenge. Results on that benchmark are what made deep convolutional networks the default in vision, and ImageNet pre-training became the standard starting point for downstream visual tasks. It is still a common reference point, though its label noise and biases are well documented.
