Definition
Rule-bound tasks with a defined win condition, used in AI as training and evaluation environments. They are attractive because the reward is unambiguous and self-play can generate unlimited data, which is why search, planning, and multi-agent research grew up on them. The standing caveat is that strength in a game does not automatically transfer to open-ended real-world tasks.
