g-eval

Definition

An automatic evaluation method that uses a large language model as the judge: it receives the criteria, is asked to reason through them, and then emits a score. Because it needs no reference text, it suits open-ended generation such as summarisation and dialogue, where no single gold answer exists. Its known weakness is judge bias — the scoring model's own preferences leak into the ratings.
