Definition
An intensifier before comparatives — far better, far fewer, far more efficient — carrying emphasis but no magnitude, so the actual gap always has to come from the results table. Watch the idiom far from, as in far from solved, which flips the sense to a negative: it is a common misreading for anyone skimming an abstract for claims.
