GLOSSARY
false
appears in 4 paper titles
Definition
Marks something that does not hold under scrutiny — a false positive, a false promise, a false sense of progress. In critique papers it flags a result that looks like evidence but disappears once the evaluation is tightened. Distinct from "error", which quantifies deviation; "false" is a binary judgement about a label or a claim.
