GLOSSARY

expensive

Definition

Costly, but usually in compute rather than money: GPU hours, memory, or inference latency. The word most often appears when motivating a method — the existing approach is accurate but expensive, so here is a cheaper route. It is also applied to human effort, as when collecting annotations is called expensive, so check which resource is scarce before comparing claims.
