The plural signals that a paper frames its object as a formal mathematical system rather than as an algorithm or an architecture. It normally arrives modified — stochastic differential equations, partial differential equations — and the modifier fixes which solution theory applies. Naming the equations is a claim about representation, not about method: once the formulation is set, the available solvers and approximations follow from it.
