Definition

Episodic means organized into discrete, bounded chunks rather than one continuous stream. In reinforcement learning an episode is a single run from initial state to termination, and returns are accumulated per episode. In continual learning and memory-augmented models, episodic memory is a store of specific past instances available for replay or retrieval, as opposed to knowledge smeared across weights.
