Definition

A metaphor for splitting a system into two coupled processes: a fast reactive one and a slower deliberative one. In robotics and agent design this becomes a lightweight module running the control loop at high frequency alongside a heavy model that plans or reasons at low frequency. The framing echoes dual-process accounts of human cognition, but the claim is engineering, not neuroscience — it is a way to get both low latency and deep reasoning out of one system.
