Definition

A text-to-3D method from Google that requires no 3D training data. Its mechanism, Score Distillation Sampling, optimizes a NeRF so that renderings from random viewpoints look plausible to a frozen 2D text-to-image diffusion model — the 2D prior supplies all the supervision. It set the template that Magic3D, ProlificDreamer and most later text-to-3D work builds on, along with its known failure modes of oversaturated color and duplicated geometry.
