An adjective about rates of change, and in this field it almost always arrives attached to equation. Rewriting a discrete sequence of updates as a differential equation — neural ODEs, the continuous-time view of diffusion — lets you import decades of numerical solver theory, including adaptive step sizes and higher-order integrators. Do not confuse it with differentiable, which is the property that makes backpropagation possible.
