Definition

Fixing the boundaries of a term that has been used loosely. A paper titled Defining X is claiming that the field cannot measure or mitigate X until it agrees on what counts as X — so the definition itself, usually with edge cases and non-examples, is the contribution. This work precedes benchmarks rather than competing with them, and its quality shows up later in whether the resulting measurements mean anything.
