Definition

An umbrella term for agents that answer a question by running many rounds of search, reading, and synthesis, then producing a long cited report. It differs from single-shot retrieval-augmented generation in that the agent plans an investigation, decides what to look up next based on what it just found, and manages evidence across many sources. Because runs are long and expensive, evaluation focuses on citation faithfulness and coverage as much as on final-answer accuracy.
