Definition

Steering behaviour toward what was asked for. In generative models it means conditioning — control tokens, guidance, adapters that fix layout or style — and it is evaluated separately from raw quality, since a beautiful image that ignores the prompt has failed. In robotics the word is narrower and older: the loop that turns a target state into actuator commands, where a learned policy takes the place of a hand-tuned controller.
