The what of an image or text — objects, layout, semantics — as opposed to style, the how. The pairing matters because many transfer and generation methods are defined by holding one fixed while varying the other. Be aware of the second sense: in applied papers "content" often just means the material itself, as in content moderation or content generation pipelines.
