Definition

The links between units or layers of a network, each carrying a weight. In compression work they are the thing being removed: pruning cuts low-importance connections to make the weight matrices sparse, and the count of surviving connections is the headline number. The word also names skip or residual connections, which route information around layers — and, outside ML, plain network links.
