built

Definition
The past participle of build, almost always appearing as built on or built upon to name the foundation a piece of work stands on — a base model, a framework, an existing corpus. It is a scoping signal: everything before the phrase is the contribution, everything after is inherited. Reading it carefully tells you whether a system was trained from scratch or assembled on top of someone else's checkpoint.
