Definition

A rendered stand-in for a person. Current work is largely generative: build a 3D or neural avatar from a few photos or a short video, then drive it — lip sync from audio, expression and pose from a source performance. Livestreaming, video conferencing, and virtual presenters are the application targets, and when the avatar reproduces a real person, likeness and consent are the live issues.
