Definition

A Google research model that generates audio by treating it as a language modeling problem. Rather than predicting waveforms directly, it maps audio into discrete tokens arranged in a hierarchy — coarser tokens carrying semantic content, finer ones carrying acoustic detail — and continues the sequence with next-token prediction. Given a short prompt it continues speech or piano music while preserving voice and style, with no transcript involved.
