Definition

Allocating one set of things to another, with the compound fixing which problem is meant. Credit assignment asks which past actions earned a delayed reward. Expert assignment, or routing, asks which experts should process each token in a Mixture-of-Experts layer — a different problem, where the difficulty is keeping load balanced rather than tracing causality backwards through time.
