GLOSSARY
anomaly
appears in 1 paper titles
Definition
An observation that departs from the normal pattern of a system. Detection methods usually model what normal looks like and flag deviations, because anomalies are by definition rare and hard to label in advance. The word overlaps with outlier, but anomaly carries the implication that something actually went wrong — a fault, an intrusion, a failure — rather than merely being statistically unusual.
